Differentiable Families of Stabilizers for Planar Bimodal Linear Control Systems

We consider bimodal linear control systems consisting of two subsystems acting on each side of a given hyperplane, assuming continuity along the separating hyperplane. For a differentiable family of controllable planar ones, we construct a differentiable family of feedbacks which pointwise stabilizes both subsystems.

Output Regulation Problem for Differentiable Families of Linear Systems

Given a family of linear systems depending on a parameter varying in a differentiable manifold, we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of a (global or local) differentiable family of controllers solving the output regulation problem for the given family. Moreover, we construct it when these conditions hold.

Fuzzy Measures on Finite Scales as Families of Possibility Measures

We show that any capacity or fuzzy measure ranging on a qualitative scale can be viewed both as the lower bound of a set of possibility measures, and the upper bound of a set of necessity measures. An algorithm is provided to compute the minimal set of possibility measures dominating a given capacity. This algorithm relies on the representation of the capacity by means of its qualitative Moebiu...

Families of spectral measures with mixed types

Consider a family of Sturm-Liouville operators Hθ on the halfaxis defined as Hθu = −u ′′ + q(x)u 0 ≤ x < ∞ with the boundary condition u(0) cos θ + u′(0) sin θ = 0 0 ≤ θ < π and the limit point case at infinity. We show that it is possible for all Hθ to have dense absolutely continuous and dense singular spectrum. The construction is based on integral representations of Pick functions in the up...

Measures of sum-free intersecting families

Let α be the supremum of all δ such that there is a sequence 〈An〉n=1 of measurable subsets of (0, 1) with the property that each An has measure at least δ and for all n,m ∈ N, An ∩ Am ∩ An+m = ∅. For k ∈ N, let αk be the corresponding supremum for finite sequences 〈An〉n=1. We show that α = lim k→∞ αk and find the exact value of αk for k ≤ 41. In the process of finding these exact values, we als...
